Pigs a new model for stroke treatment
UGA researchers from the Regenerative Bioscience Center have synthesized the very first pig model for stroke treatments in the United States. This will allow for an expedited process in finding alternative methods of combating strokes. For many decades pigs have provided an excellent model for the derivation of medical products such as heart valves and insulin for diabetics. Aside from mice, pigs will allow for the collection of much more relevant data that will aid in finding the best possible stroke treatments.
